Whether it’s white, turquoise, red or pink: It’s the season of statement ankle boots. Apparently, designers had enough of the usual suspects black and brown and wanted to provoke us to try out something new. Challenge accepted. The current variety in stores left me quite impressed. And being a passionate shoe-lover, I was ready to give this trend a go. Not that I really needed another pair of boots, but isn’t it surprising, how a striking shoe can immediately change your look? Oh well, conjuring up excuses again.
What I wear with my fuchsia colored ones and how I justify owning about 20 pairs of ankle boots.
Wearing Statement
Boots in Winter
Unlike other fashion bloggers, I’m still unsure what to think about white boots. Pink, however, is as easy to combine as red. It’s maybe a little bit more unexpected. These fuchsia colored beauties by Zara have quickly become one of my favorite things to wear in the cold season, when everything is dark and you need that pop of color.
I do own a few other colors. After all, I live in Hamburg and an ankle boot is the perfect allrounder. If you have ever been to Germany, you might have noticed: The winters are not really cold, the summers are not really hot. Most of the year, we live in what I would call a bland weather state. Nothing extreme, if you compare it to the States. We rarely need fur-lined tall boots and in summer I’m always surprised about how little I wore my sandals. So, a pair of ankle boots is probably the shoe type I wear most often – with and without a heel.
These pink ones are a nice update for my collection. I wear them often in the daytime, for a shopping trip or a meeting. They certainly make a statement – heads turn in the streets.
If you ever wonder how to combine extravagant shoes – just pick your favorite pair of jeans. I like a more loose type for striking shoes, as it makes the whole outfit more effortless. Although I am a huge fan of anything black, I liked how my white Massimo Dutti coat complemented the tone of fuchsia. I bet these boots will also work so well in spring and summer – we will see. To be continued!
